SPH Engineering advances ATLAS to process mining data collected with a UAV

SPH Engineering announces the development of ATLAS, an AI-powered platform, to be applied for UAV data analysis for open-pit mines & quarries. ATLAS AI engine is advanced to learn from user's activity and automate regular inspections of pits and quarries.

Data collected with a UAV, processed and analysed with ATLAS is expected to optimise quarry monitoring, stockpile audit and water management, as well as support drilling and blasting operations and planning of traffic in a quarry.

‘We introduced ATLAS in May 2020 to provide an enhanced analytical capability for drone inspections to save days of manual processing. We have observed a rising interest in the solution from our existing UgCS customers across the mining industry and investigated their key issues in regard to drone data processing. We hope that minor adjustments to ATLAS will allow fast and accurate aerial data analysis to support data-driven decisions at every stage of the mining life cycle’, Alexei Yankelevich, Head of Software Development at SPH Engineering, adds.


Earlier this year SPH Engineering disclosed UgCS application for mine surveying. The open pit survey was conducted by the Mining Engineering and Mineral Economics Department at MONTANUNIVERSITÄT LEOBEN, Austria, as a part of UgCS Educational programme.
